The future of the audiovisual sector depends on connected ecosystems with international ambition and the capacity to attract talent, companies and investment. This session explores how public policy, industry, research and innovation can align to generate long-term impact, using the United Kingdom and Catalonia as complementary case studies.
The session opens with the keynote “Architecting Creativity and the Industrialisation of Imagination” by Will Saunders, focused on the UK’s CoSTAR programme: a nationally coordinated network of five R&D and advanced production labs, backed by £75 million in public investment and connected to major industrial hubs such as MediaCityUK in Manchester, where innovation is scaled through infrastructure like dock10 and the BBC.
The second part features a panel with representatives from CoStar, dock10, Barcelona XRLab, Catalunya Media City and Parc Audiovisual de Catalunya examining how strong, interconnected audiovisual ecosystems are built and sustained. Using Catalonia’s current momentum—with initiatives such as Catalunya Media City, Barcelona XRLAB and the expansion of the Parc Audiovisual de Catalunya—the discussion will address diversification, evolving business models and collaboration between infrastructure, talent, technology and public–private initiatives, highlighting the drivers of innovation, resilience and global competitiveness.

ISE TECH TOURS

The Catalan Audiovisual Cluster collaborates in the organization of the ISE Tech Tours, organized visits that will take visitors to the main AV facilities in Barcelona.
We highlight:
La Salle: The IASlab brings together art, science, and technology, featuring labs for visual effects, VR/AR, AI, animation, digital arts, interactive robotics, audiovisual post-production, and acoustic research, including reverberant and anechoic chambers.
CaixaForum: The visit includes the Root for Nature exhibition, which stands out for its interactive installations, immersive audiovisual systems, and projection mapping that blend art and design to engage visitors and raise awareness about biodiversity – all from an optimistic point of view.
3Cat Studios: The highlight is Studio 4, a 400 m² robotized news studio with perimeter LED walls, chroma zones, and precision camera robotics, featuring the 3.5 m rotating “giratutto”, the first of its kind in the world. The space integrates multiple news programmes within one environment, from Telenotícies to Matins and Més Nit.
Catalunya Media City: Ferran Falcó, General Director of Consorci del Besòs, which oversees the site’s development, will lead guests on a tour of the preserved chimneys and reactivated turbine hall, featuring digital, tech, and future-use facilities.
Shoot Estudios: These luxury apartments double as event or live production sets, blending design, creativity, architecture and smart technology in authentic residential spaces.
SABDA: a pioneering multidisciplinary space in the heart of Barcelona where art, technology, and wellness come together to create transformative experiences.
Leonardo vs. Michelangelo from Layers of Reality: At IDEAL Digital Arts Center, visitors explore the lives, minds, and masterpieces of the genius through large-scale projections, 360º virtual reality, and metaverse environments. Inspired by their legendary 1503 Florence commission, the experience blends innovation and history, inviting guests to reflect and choose their side: Team Leonardo or Team Michelangelo? A thrilling journey celebrating creativity, genius, and the enduring power of human imagination.
Alfa5 Sports XR: This tour will be presented by Layers of Reality and Alfa5 Sports XR giving an operational production point of view and will experience nine immersive zones powered by VR, AR, lasers, lighting, motion tracking, and projection systems, from virtual climbing, virtual skydiving to interactive soccer arenas.

ICEC and the DG of Innovation and Digital Culture have their own stand (CS224 – Congress Square). There, you can discover the creative work of 6 Catalan digital companies through the 20-minute piece Immersive Horizons: A journey across Catalan digital creativity, created especially for the ISE. Of these 6 selected studios, Eyesberg and Onionlab are part of the Catalan Audiovisual Cluster.
ACCIÓ is present at the Catalonia Pavilion of the Catalan Government (CS100 – Congress Square), where the Catalan Audiovisual Cluster has its own booth. They act as an umbrella for around twenty Catalan companies with the aim of promoting the audiovisual sector in Barcelona and Catalonia.

ISE 2025
The Cluster organized and was present at 27 conferences and activities in the main stages of the fair and in the Àgora space of the Cluster stand shared with the Barcelona City Council. 25 Cluster member companies were present at the fair in their own booths and under the umbrella of ACCIÓ and the Barcelona City Council.
ISE 2024
The cluster organized 13 activities (conferences, workshops, networking) on the main stages and in the Agora space of the cluster’s booth, shared with Barcelona City Council. About 20 partner companies were present in their own booths, at ACCIÓ’s booth and at the cluster’s booth.
ISE 2023
The cluster organized 9 conferences on the main stages and in the Agora space of the cluster’s booth, shared with Barcelona City Council. About 20 partner companies were present in their own booths, at ACCIÓ’s booth and at the cluster’s booth.
ISE 2022
The cluster organized 8 conferences on the main stages and in the Agora space of the cluster’s booth, shared with Barcelona City Council. 16 partner companies were present in their own booths, at ACCIÓ’s booth and at the cluster’s booth. We participated in the ISE Open Innovation Challenge.
